Make Room for Implants With Sinus Lifts in Valley, NE

Dental implants give you a wide range of life-changing benefits. You gain stronger bite strength and chewing power, allowing you to enjoy more foods you love. Plus, you’ll avoid bone loss in your jaw so you look and feel younger. However, not everyone is a candidate for implants right away. If you are getting implants in your upper jaw, it may be necessary to perform a sinus lift procedure. Sinus lifts in Valley, NE will:

  • Make room in your jaw for implants
  • Replenish bone lost in your upper jaw
  • Prepare you for an implant procedure
  • Be completed by an experienced dentist

Take One Step Closer to Your Implant Procedure

If you have worn dentures for years or have been living with missing teeth for a long time, you may have significant bone loss in your jaw. Your upper jaw can become weakened, making it difficult to support implants. To address this, we may recommend a sinus lift. It will raise your upper sinus ridge and create a space for bone material. This material will replenish the bone that has been lost in that area, strengthening your jaw to support implants.

You can trust Dr. Rasmussen to perform this procedure. Our entire team will ensure you have a comfortable experience with:

  • Dental Sedation – You can choose sedation to ease your nerves. Laughing gas can take the edge off. Or you can opt for IV sedation for a deeply relaxed state.
  • Modern Technology – Your dentist plans this procedure using advanced technology, such as a 3-D CT scanner and digital X-rays. It ensures you are the right candidate for this treatment and gives you precise results.
  • Our Caring Approach – We will take our time answering any questions you have about treatment. You’ll also be involved every step of the way, so you understand the “why” behind the procedure.

Once Dr. Rasmussen has completed the sinus lift, your mouth will need time to heal. Once you have fully healed, you will return for your implant placement.

Common Questions About Sinus Lifts

A sinus lift is a type of bone graft for the upper jaw. It is used when the upper jaw isn’t deep enough to support dental implants. We will raise the floor of the sinuses and insert bone material in the space so that new bone will grow there. In a few months, there will be sufficient bone to support your implants and replacement teeth.

As with other oral surgery procedures, we’ll numb your mouth with local anesthesia. You can also choose to receive dental sedation. Following the procedure, you may experience some bleeding and/or swelling. Most patients experience mild discomfort only and for no more than a few days. We’ll provide you with an antibiotic to prevent infection and can also suggest medication to relieve pain.

It is necessary to perform a sinus lift if a patient needs upper implants, but their upper jaw is not strong or thick enough to support them. Additionally, the sinus membrane is often in the way of implants. A sinus lift moves the sinuses up and makes room for added bone material that will help strengthen the jawbone. In a few months, the upper jaw will be ready for implants.
